f you crave minerality in your white wines, you will love this Albariño out of Oregon’s Umpqua Valley. Hilda and Earl Jones moved to Oregon with a vision of making world-class Tempranillo. Not only did they achieve that goal, but also make some mighty fine wines from other varietals as well.
This Albariño had just the slightest hint of pale yellow in the glass but lifted to the nose, the aromas practically explode out the top! Our mouths began to water from the tart fresh lemon smells. We also found a flinty, wet stone, fresh rain mineral note that continued as we tasted the wine.
On the palate was abundant acidity in the form of lemon zest and pineapple. With a medium mouthfeel, this wine was clean and crisp with a pleasant flinty, slate and mango finish. Pair this wine with just about anything from Thai foods to salads to seafoods. It would also be a great sipper to enjoy out on the porch, no food necessary.
