Willamette Valley AVA
ucked away just a few minutes south of Portland, Oswego Hills Winery seems to be a place most people haven’t heard of, let alone visited. That could be because the winery has very limited hours (and distribution.) But if you find yourself on a lazy Sunday with nothing to do, hop in your car and go wine tasting! Not only is Oswego Hills Winery an easy drive but you won’t spend an hour in the car.
The Oswego Hills Viognier was made with Willamette Valley fruit and was a beautiful starfruit yellow hue. Ripe summer peach and apricot aromas practically inundated our noses as we breathed deeply, enjoying the lovely fruit smells. The summer stone fruit carried over from nose to mouth, along with a pleasant flintiness, as one would taste when touching tongue to pencil tip. This viognier is a perfect summer sipper with a medium mouthfeel of fuzzy peach skins but without the oily texture some viogniers can impart. It also had a slight tartness on the mid palate, as if biting into a peach just shy of full ripeness.
With only 104 cases produced, order some online or visit the winery to pick up some bottles for summer!
