A unique collaboration between Drew Barrymore and winery Carmel Road, this wine was meant to be shared with family and friends. And the Winerabblers found that it exceeded our expectations and had enough acidity to please our palates.
On the nose, we smelled honeydew melons and slightly unripe apricots. As we sipped, we tasted those same flavors, along with tart granny smith apples, nutmeg and some honey on the mid-palate. Overall this Pinot grigio was crisp, tart and had acid levels that would make it an easy wine to pair with many different kinds of food. The winery tasting notes suggests pairing this Pinot grigio with gnocchi in brown butter with fried sage or a caprese salad. We think those are great suggestions and would add green papaya salad to the list and other spicy dishes from southeast Asia!
