DAYTON, Ore. – March 14, 2017 – Domaine Serene, the Dundee Hills winery known for consistently producing world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, has started construction on a new winery dedicated solely to Chardonnay, White Pinot Noir and Sparkling Wines.

The new facility, opening in the Spring of 2018 to accept the 2018 harvest, will be the first of its kind in Oregon and will continue the tradition of Domaine Serene’s pioneering spirit.  The winery’s expansion will continue the evolution of the Evenstad’s award-winning Chardonnay program – which recently drew critical acclaim with their 2014 Evenstad Reserve Chardonnay named the best white wine in the world by Wine Spectator.

“We firmly believe that this is the best place on earth to grow and produce superior quality Chardonnay,” said Ken Evenstad. “Over the past three years we have doubled-down and planted an additional 25 acres of Chardonnay. Today we are following up on that commitment by breaking ground on a facility that will provide our winemaking team a dedicated space to continue our laser-focus on high quality, award-winning wines.”

Based on a gravity-flow model similar to Domaine Serene’s existing winery, this new, top-quality facility will provide the winemaking team with more cutting edge tools to handle white wine with greater precision and attention to detail. When complete, it will feature high quality cold storage capabilities and will expand the opportunity to add diversity in fermentation tanks and barrel aging techniques to further elevate their already award-winning program. Additionally, these critical features increase flexibility to manage the quality nuances of the Domaine Serene Sparkling Wine Program that is set to debut in the Summer of 2018.

The benefits of a stand-alone winery for white and sparkling wines are obvious, but having a separate, dedicated facility for each increases the overall focus on the quality of all the wine produced at Domaine Serene.  both of their consistently regarded Pinot Noir and Chardonnay offerings.

With the addition of the white wine winery and the new Clubhouse, opening May 2017, Domaine Serene will have dedicated facilities to continue their quest to produce world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a visitor experience second to none.

For the past 25 years, Domaine Serene has been focused on excellence in a never-ending quest to produce world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Every decision is meticulously calculated to meet extremely high internal standards.  Their unparalleled dedication to excellence guides each decision in the vineyard and the cellar. Since constant advancement in quality improvement is the definition of their culture, this investment was the logical choice to continue their mantra of putting wine quality first.

About Domaine Serene

A passion to produce exquisite Pinot Noir led Ken and Grace Evenstad to Oregon in 1989. When the time came to pursue their longtime dream of planting vineyards and producing world-class Pinot Noir, they invested in a 42-acre hilltop estate property that had just been logged in the Dundee Hills of Oregon. Today, Domaine Serene produces wines from six individual vineyard estates, planted exclusively to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Guided by an unwavering commitment to quality, philanthropy and multi-generational sustainability, the Evenstads have garnered global recognition as iconic producers of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
