PORTLAND, Ore. – Feb. 27, 2017 – High school students in the Willamette Valley area who have a passion for art and local foods have a chance to showcase their creativity this spring. COUNTRY Financial® and Portland Farmers Market are encouraging students to submit a design for the market’s 2017 reusable bag design contest.

The top design will earn the student a $1,000 scholarship and their artwork will grace hundreds of reusable bags that will be given to shoppers during the market season.

Contest Instructions

The theme for the seventh annual reusable bag design contest is “Eat fresh. Eat local.” Designers must follow the theme and include the phrase “2017 Portland Farmers Market” within their design in order to be considered. In addition, students are encouraged to include imagery familiar to the City of Portland and the marketplace such as fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers and more.

In turn, three finalists and a People’s Choice winner will be given a financial start to their future. The winning artist will receive a $1,000 scholarship, the first and second runners up will each receive a $500 scholarship and the People’s Choice winner will take home $250.
