February 8, 2016 – Providore Fine Foods, a new European-style marketplace, will celebrate its Grand Opening on Wednesday, Feb. 10th at 2340 NE Sandy Blvd. at 9 a.m. in Portland, Oregon. The new marketplace is an exciting collaboration with some of Portland’s finest local purveyors, bringing a unique perspective to the specialty grocery and culinary venue. Owned and operated by the Pastaworks team, the new 5,000-square-foot marketplace in the renovated DeSoto building features an expanded Pastaworks, and the long dreamt of rotisserie concept, Arrosto.
As the owners of Providore Fine Foods, de Garmo, his wife Kaie Wellman, a fifth-generation Portlander and creator of the eat.shop guides series, and Whole Foods Market grocery veteran Bruce Silverman, bring decades of combined grocery, food and design experience and passion to Portland’s newest destination food marketplace.

Pastaworks – Handcrafted fresh and dried pasta; housemade focaccia and European-influenced baked goods; extensive cheese selection; pantry goods sourced locally, nationally and internationally; wine and beer; an Illy espresso bar; and an extensive dine-in or to-go menu of sandwiches, salads, pasta, charcuterie and cheese platters. Historic Re-Use of 1920’s DeSoto Building
With original exposed brick walls and high wood-beamed ceilings, the historic 1919 DeSoto Building once housed the Alexander Chrysler, Plymouth, and DeSoto automobile business, which Alton Alexander opened in 1938. The 5,000-square foot renovation features an open marketplace design with local purveyors selling side by side, floor-to-ceiling windows, oversized garage doors opening to a seasonal outdoor patio, an expansive production kitchen and butchering and fish fillet stations.
