BUTLER, PA (October 27, 2016) – After spending several years in the 1960’s and 1970’s perfecting the art of German winemaking, Ken Starr opened Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery in 2005. Based in Curwensville, PA, Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery now has stores located inside four Walmart locations, making it one of the first wineries to be located inside the largest retailer in the United States.
Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery approached Walmart several years ago and in 2012 they were approved by the state of Pennsylvania to open a maximum of five retail stores. In addition to the Butler store, other Walmart locations include Altoona, Clearfield and DuBois.
Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery will be hosting a ribbon cutting event with the Butler County Chamber of Commerce at the new store inside the local Butler Walmart on Wednesday, November 9 at 4 p.m.
