Our love letter to a mouthful of a grape– oh Grüner Veltliner, let us count the ways we love thee… your mouthfeel is lithe and bright and you always smell like fresh rain on a summer day. You are often the color of morning dew drops and taste of tart limes and lemons.
This Hungarian Grüner, available at Trader Joe’s has all that and more! We smelled tart notes of passionfruit and lemon zest, as well as fresh rain and honeysuckle flowers. When we sipped this wine, we found those aromas on our tongues, along with tart granny smith apples and gooseberries that made our mouths water for another sip. It’s a very dry, crisp white wine that is a steal for the price.
We often sip this wine as we cook meals or while basking in the afternoon sun. The back label suggests enjoying it with chicken, seafood and finger foods, all of which would be delicious with it.
