2015 Welsh Family Winery Pinot noir Rosé

Bjornson Vineyards
Eola-Amity Hills
Willamette Valley
Oregon

LIVE-certified vineyard

Delicate salmon pink in color, this rosé is made with premium Pinot noir grapes from the Bjornson Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills of the Willamette Valley. Made by recent Portland transplant Dan Welsh, dare we say it, a rising star in the Portland urban wine scene. And he’s willing to take calculated risks, including making rosé with spendy fruit. We think the odds are in his favor after tasting this rosé!

As we swirled our glasses, we smelled bing cherries and ripe strawberries along with savory notes of fresh rosemary. Sipping this wine, we tasted those same strawberries and cherries, coupled with raw almonds. A fleshy, full mouthfeel for a Pinot noir rosé, this wine is apt to convert those who think they only like red wines into rosé drinkers. Bright and tangy with high acidity, the Welsh Family rosé had a lemon zest finish, making it an excellent wine to drink with a meal.

Pair this rosé with clam chowder, fried chicken or a grilled cheese sandwich stuffed with caramelized onions. The generous acid levels in this wine will cut through the fat in these dishes like a knife through butter. Available at the SE Wine Collective in Southeast Portland.

SRP $28.
