2017 Devona Washington state Chardonnay
Washington
13.8% alcohol
232 cases produced
Cork closure
Color: Starfruit yellow
Aromas: This Chardonnay was filled with many interesting smells, including tart Meyer lemons, green papaya and savory lemongrass. It was a little like traveling first to Southern California, then over to Hawaii and, finally to Thailand, all without having to set foot on a plane. Once the wine lost some of its chill, notes of caramel became prominent as well.
Flavors: The wine’s texture and weight hit our palates first. There was a satisfying creamy roundness to it, before flavors of lemon curd, tart grapefruit and slivered almonds emerged… and lingered, in a long, long finish.
Food pairing suggestions: Pair with sushi, a crab and lemon thyme soufflé, grilled corn sprinkled with cotija cheese or a warm summer day.
SRP $44
