This red wine is a blend of 40% Cabernet sauvignon, 30% Cabernet franc, 20% Merlot and 10% Syrah. Just like chefs making a meal, winemakers blend varying amounts of different grape varietals as a way to create a wine greater than the sum of its parts. All these “ingredients” are blended together to fulfill that wine’s intended purpose.
Color:
Deep cherry red
Bouquet:
Fragrant fruit smells of black and red cherries combined with raspberries and, just a whiff of green bell pepper.
Palate:
My first sip tasted all those juicy flavors of both red and black cherries along with ripe raspberries and strawberries. This wine has acidity and structure with cat tongue-like tannins that would pair beautifully with many different types of foods. It’s a good wine to bring when you’re unsure as to what is being served or unfamiliar with the types of wine your host enjoys– a crowd-pleaser!
Food pairing suggestions:
Barbecued ribs, margherita pizza, portobello mushroom burgers.
