Lemon Basil Vodka Tonic Cocktail
Lemon Basil Vodka Tonic Cocktail

If you find yourself in the little town of Dundee in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, stop by Red Hills Market (RHM) for picnic fixings or a casual meal while wine tasting in the area. You can find cheese, fresh bread and charcuterie, making for a perfect lunch at your favorite winery. Or dine in on their great pizzas, sandwiches and pastries! Wine by the glass and bottle are also available, along with a few cocktails– key if you’re looking for something spritzy, fun and isn’t wine. They have generously allowed me to post this recipe, one of their most popular cocktails!

Ingredients:

½ oz. fresh lemon juice
½ oz. simple syrup
2 oz. vodka (RHM uses Oregon’s Crater Lake brand)
3-4 basil leaves
Tonic water (RHM likes the Fever Tree brand)

Preparation:

Put all cocktail ingredients, but the tonic, into a shaker. Add ice and shake. Pour shaker contents into a glass and top with tonic water. Garnish with a lemon slice and enjoy!

If you’re anywhere near Dundee, be sure to include Red Hills Market on your next trip to Willamette Valley’s wine country!
