Owners Kevin Johnson and Beth Klingner are intimately familiar with their land and vineyard. Kevin’s parents, with the help of his grandfather, planted the original vines in 1973. Kevin has walked the vineyard rows since he was a toddler! Over time, the vineyard has expanded to 60-acres. After many years of growing and selling grapes, Kevin decided to keep a small amount for himself and began making wine with the estate fruit in 2007. In 2010, Beth joined in the winemaking fun.
The Wedding Tree is especially significant and refers to the 100+-year-old maple tree on the property, under which Kevin and Beth were married.
The Dion Vineyard is sustainably farmed and LIVE-certified. (Click here to read more about the common types of farming used in growing grapes.) Composed primarily of Pinot noir and just a splash of Chardonnay, the wine was kept on the lees for 28 months. Doing so added more texture, aroma and flavor to the finished sparkling wine. This particular wine was disgorged in September 2020 and is available now on the Dion Vineyard website. With its elegant packaging, the Wedding Tree sparkling wine makes a great celebratory wine or gift!
