Fruit for this wine was grown at their 66-acre estate vineyard, picked in mid-September and 20% was whole-cluster fermented. Adding the entire cluster– stems and all– to the fermentation, amps up the tannins in the finished wine. Aged for a year in a combination of 25% new and 75% neutral French oak barriques, the Pinot was then moved to tank for another 4 months before bottling.

Color:

Ruby red

Bouquet:

Aromas of mocha and dark chocolate gave way to notes of anise, black cherries, and flint.

Palate:

This Pinot had some serious structure so if you plan to drink it while it’s still young, be sure to first decant the wine. With high acidity and flavors of tart cranberries, red plums, and forest floor, it is a versatile, food-friendly Pinot!

Food pairing suggestions:

Roast duck with marsala gravy // parmesan polenta cakes // pan-fried trout with garlic and rosemary
