Left Coast Estate is a sprawling, 490-acre/198 hectare family-owned and operated property. Almost half the estate is considered an ecological compensation area, where native plants and animals thrive, including a forest filled with old-growth white oak trees. The Pfaff family has partnered with the US Dept. of Fish and Wildlife to restore their forest, thereby helping to preserve the native trees, some over 450 years old!

With 160 acres/64 hectare under vine, winemaker Joe Wright has a number of vineyard blocks, as well as many grape clones and varietals from which to craft his wines. Truffle Hill Vineyard is named after the hazelnut trees inoculated with European black truffles that share space with the vines. How’s that for terroir?

I found this Chardonnay to be quite light and bright! With high acidity, it’s a versatile, food-friendly wine that would complement a wide array of dishes. Buy several bottles so you have some on hand and can chill up a bottle to enjoy with your next meal.
