2019 Cairdeas Winery Roussanne
Lawrence Vineyard,
Royal Slope,
Columbia Valley,
Washington
13% alcohol
Cork closure
Bouquet:
As I sniffed this wine, tart citrus aromas of grapefruit marmalade and lemons wafted out of my glass. I also noticed hints of bubblegum and creme brûlée as the wine warmed up a bit.
Palate:
If you like white wines with texture, this is just perfect for you! Owner/winemaker Charlie Lybecker aged this wine sur lees (on the skins) for 9 months in neutral oak barrels. With bright acidity and that amazing texture, this Roussanne had flavors of lemons, grapefruit marmalade, vanilla, ginger, and crème brûlée.
Food pairing suggestions:
Turkey chili, grilled cheese with caramelized onions, blackened barbecued fish.
SRP $30
The winery is sold out of this vintage but you might find it online or at your favorite wine shop or grocer. Otherwise, look for the new vintage to be released in September.
