Wine foundation announces scholarship supporting women in Washington wine

January 24, 2022 – A new scholarship targeting the future generation of women in Washington wine was announced today by the Washington Wine Industry Foundation.

The scholarship, established by the Alliance of Women in Washington Wine was created to inspire, connect, and advance the future workforce of the wine industry. Facilitated by the Foundation, one $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a female student pursuing a viticulture or enology related program.

“Coming together as a group, elevating each other, and helping mentor young women into the industry are what we are all about,” shared Kristin Scheelar, an Alliance board member, “and this scholarship is one way of delivering on the mission”.

“Scholarships open more doors for students into the Washington wine industry. Those students are our future and the more we can invest, the more will be returned. With the vision of a thriving wine industry, scholarships like this one help build a powerful cohort of the future, “said Vicky Scharlau, Foundation Executive Director.
