If Tempranillo from Oregon’s Umpqua Valley isn’t yet on your radar, it should be! The terroir found there produces truly impressive Tempranillo grapes. Click here to read more about terroir. Paul O’Brien Winery is capitalizing on this fact and making some memorable wines from the varietal.
For this vintage, the Tempranillo juice was aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, 35% of which were new. Once the wine was bottled, it was then aged for another year before its release. Dark and brooding, with many black fruit notes, this Tempranillo is ready to drink now or cellar for a few more years.
